CONDITION(S)



POTENTIAL CAUSE(S)

CHECK THESE FIRST:

1. INOPERATIVE CARBURETOR CHOKE
Clean carburetor choke.
Have carburetor professionally adjusted.

2. IMPROPER STARTING TECHNIQUE; ENGINE FLOODED
Allow gasoline to evaporate then restart without applying throttle.

3. FAULTY DISTRIBUTOR CAP OR ROTOR
Replace distributor cap or rotor.

4. VAPOR LOCK (WHEN ENGINE HOT)
Place cold, wet towels on mechanical fuel pump and fuel line to carburetor. Restart engine after vapor condenses back into liquid fuel.

CHECK THESE NEXT:

5. FAULTY OR IMPROPERLY GAPPED SPARK PLUGS
Replace or correctly gap the spark plugs.

6. INCORRECT CARBURETOR FLOAT LEVEL
Have carburetor float professionally adjusted.

7. FAULTY OR IMPROPERLY ADJUSTED BREAKER POINTS
Have breaker points professionally adjusted.

8. LOOSE BATTERY CABLE OR IGNITION COIL WIRE
Tighten loose battery cable or ignition coil wire.

CHECK THESE LAST:

9.FAULTY IGNITION COIL WIRE OR SPARK PLUG WIRES
Replace faulty ignition coil wire or spark plug wires.

10. LOW CAPACITY CONDENSER
Have condenser professionally replaced.

11. CLOGGED AIR CLEANER FILTER
Replace air cleaner filter.
